How to Get Rid of Rough Skin

By Ben Inbar
on July 15, 2015

Do you have rough skin in certain parts of your body? Do not be ashamed, this is a common (and unaesthetic) condition that many people experience during their lives, especially after a certain age or because of their profession, state of health, climate they live in and personal care.

Skin is our external protection and rough skin is somehow a consequence of this function. In some areas of our body that are usually more inclined to stress and potential friction, skin cells reproduce much faster and in big quantity. Those parts are the hands, the feet and some junctures, mostly elbows and (a bit less) knees. Dehydration and stress contribute for these parts to become much thicker and rough. Rough skin can take a yellow/darker color, can peel and become very callous and ugly to see.

At the beginning is only matter of aesthetic but, if neglected, rough skin can get dangerous. Roughness can degenerate in a thick callous area that might provoke pain and difficulty while walking (talking about the feet, of course). It can crack, bleed and get infected (since, as we said, these areas of our body are particularly exposed to friction and stress they are usually more likely to get fungus and bacteria if they are wounded). In order to avoid these unpleasant degenerative states, we should take some simple but effective precautions to get rid of rough skin as fast as possible.

Rough Skin on our Hands

Our hands are victims of daily stress: days of extreme cold, continuous exposure to dirt and washing with low quality soap, scratches etc. These stressful events cause the skin to dry: the most external layer of skin cells, exhausted, do not manage to hold liquids and nutrients. Of course there might be also a medical skin condition that contributes to this loss of hydration and osmotic balance. Once the skin is dry, it becomes harder, less vital and more likely to get damaged.

In order to avoid this unhealthy process of deterioration you should:

Use natural soap on a daily basis: chemical soaps are extremely aggressive and might damage the epithelial tissue triggering the process of dehydration.

Exfoliate: do your hands look opaque and not smooth? This might depend on a layer of dead cells that you have on your hands. A gentle exfoliation does not damage your skin. Instead it helps new cells to come out, improving immediately the general aspect of your hands. You can rub them gently with a natural facial scrub, washing them before and after with warm water. Our Dead Sea Minerals Scrubs gently exfoliate your body and your face, treating them at the same time with a mix of powerful and completely organic minerals. It would ensure you the complete removal of dead cells with a boost of regenerative substance for your new skin layer to glow.

Hydrate: immediately after the peeling, and certainly at least a couple of times per day, you should hydrate your hands with natural serum and creams that are specifically studied to boost cell regeneration and hydration. If dry skin is your problem right now, you should make sure that the substances contained in your moisturizer will provide you with the help you need.

Protect: if you do not diminish the stress you are putting your hands through, there is no treatment that can help you. Keep following the above mentioned measures without stopping but try to change your behavior as well. Do not expose your hands to cold or hot hair (for example cover your hand in the winter and use napkins to dry them after you wash them) and protect them from extreme friction (contact with chemicals, hard manual work etc.).

Pamper: even when your hands look healthy and the rough skin is gone (or you are just trying to prevent it) you should be generous to your hands and pamper them as much as you can. Periodically you should give your hands an extra-hydrating mask. Dead Sea mud is particularly appropriate for this kind of treatment and will leave your hands soft and beautiful like you have never seen before.

Rough Skin on our Feet

Even if we would like smooth and soft feet, the daily pressure that they bare (our weight, long walks, constrictive shoes etc.) can cause our feet to become “hard like a hoof” and to get an unaesthetic color. Often, a strong sense of discomfort is associated with these phenomena and in order to avoid deep cracks, real pain and further degenerations is better to intervene immediately with simple but effective methods.

As premised, you should know that if you want to improve considerably the condition of your feet you should start an intensive rehabilitation process that might take a couple of weeks. Commitment is the key to success, especially considering that your feet will undergo a certain amount of stress even during the treatment (you cannot expect them to heal completely if you treat them only once!)

Feet Spa: immerse your feet in a footbath with warm water and essential oils for about 15 minutes. You can prepare the footbath also with lemon or vinegar (instead of essential oils). In this case, reduce the time of immersion to 10 minutes. For better results, we suggest you to try out Dead Sea salt, specifically prepared fro these occasions. Once you finish with the the footbath, scrub your feet energetically with pumice stone, trying to remove the white skin that you see (those are dead cells and are responsible for your discomfort and bad looking skin). Rinse with warm water, dry and moisturize immediately and abundantly. The process should be repeated daily till the cracks or the white skin disappear and your feet go back to be soft and hydrated. Dead Sea Minerals products are extremely effective and might shorten the treatment period because of their strong healing power.

Cream and socks, a perfect couple: Especially at night and in general whenever you can, do not limit yourself to put cream on your feet. After you moisturize them, cover them with cotton light colored socks in a way that you will create a protective barrier and will allow the cream to be absorbed completely and penetrate deeper.

Rough Skin on our Elbows

Elbows are the junctures that are most likely to get dry and unaesthetically hard. Skin is sensitive there and subject to continuous movement. During winter and in the summer, they are continuously exposed to contrasting temperatures: hot air from radiators dry them off during winter while the strong cold air of the AC is like a deadly wind during the summer, when they already might suffer for lack of humidity. If, by chance, we also suffer from psoriasis or other skin diseases, rough skin and cracks on our elbows can become intolerable.

Exfoliation and hydration are the remedies also for this area of our body. In this case we should generously indulge with organic body scrubs while showering (never more than twice a week though!) and abounding with emollient lotions to moisturize them several times a day. Our Dead Sea emollient creams have a strong hydrating power and reinforce the ability of the skin cells to retain water. Dead Sea minerals, in fact, favor a healthy osmosis and build a sort of protective barrier around the epithelial cells.

Cucumbers and Other Antiaging Tricks

By Ben Inbar
on July 15, 2015

In the common imagery, and mostly in the movies, the most classic antiaging homemade treatment is cucumber slices that eccentric women and teenagers put on their faces hoping to gain or regain the desired beauty. This stereotype is actually, at least partially, true. Cucumber is one of the natural products that can be used for antiaging purposes. There are many other tricks that can help you to maintain your skin young and fresh despite the inexorability of time. Let discover some of them together:

The Renowned Cucumber Trick

Besides irony and clichés, cucumber really contains precious antiaging substances. This vegetable in fact contains silica that has the power to regenerate skin tissues and to strengthen them while maintain them elastic and smooth. A massive quantity of vitamin C and several other antioxidants are also found in cucumbers. These too contribute to cucumber’s antiaging power.

Cucumber helps the skin cells to retain water and therefore, to stay deeply hydrated. For this reason, cucumber is particularly useful not only as an antiaging but also to heal and regenerate burnt skin (this is why it is one of the basic ingredients of after-sun organic creams).

For all the above mentioned proprieties and for many other ways cucumber can contribute to your skin’s and general health, cucumber masks, slices applications on your eyes and, of course, use of creams and lotions that contain cucumber extract are recommended in antiaging treatments.

Use only organic natural products

Like cucumbers, there are many antiaging natural products around, many of which are used to create beauty and body care products. These are the best antiaging you can find and you should prefer them to chemical ones. Chemical products, in fact, might give you some initial result but some of the dangerous substances that they are made of, will end up accumulating in your organism. This can create very serious health problems and, surely, they will no help you in contrasting age signs. Besides cucumber, plants like Aloe Vera are miraculous as antiaging: Aloe Vera is another natural substance that, like cucumbers, acts against free radicals and favors the hydration of the cells. Moreover, it has a very strong healing and regenerative power. Aloe Vera is good for preventing aging effects but also to contrast sunburns and chronical dehydrations. Its healing ability is also particularly useful in case of inflammations, acne and infections.

Antiaging Food

It shouldn’t sound new to you: what you eat and drink affects your organism deeply and skin tissue is a part of it! Specific aliments are richer than others in antioxidants and if you combine them together in your diet they will interact reinforcing one the power of the other. Increasing the consumption of healthy food you will absorb more antioxidants. This will make you look younger, besides helping your vital organs to remain functional to their maximum capacity.

A lot of delicious food can be labeled as antiaging food for example berries, red wine (about one glass a day; if you drink much more you will get the opposite result) and raw olive oil. They have also been proven effective in reducing the risk of heart diseases, cancer and the degeneration of brain cells. In general, dark colored vegetables are a proven source of different antioxidants; eating them regularly (preferably raw or lightly cooked) will greatly benefit your skin and your body in general.

Honey, I'm young!

Honey is another wonder of nature that we can take advantage of in order to have radiant skin for many years to come. It contains a massive amount of antioxidants that can help your skin regenerate itself. It is also an antibacterial and can be of use for mild irritations and inflamations. Home made masks with honey (and in general the use of natural cosmetics that contain honey) are to be used regularly. They will gently exfoliate dead cells while deeply nurturing the others.

Should you Shower?

The question might be unsettling but besides irony, there is a bit of truth in it. A clean body is important not only for aging well but also for the present look of your skin. However, nowadays, some tend to abuse of soap and hot water and they put their skin through a very dramatic experience once a day or even more. If you want to avoid dry skin or, even worse, skin problems, avoid boiling showers, use natural soaps and step up from the shower before your skin becomes red. After the shower gently dry yourself and possibly put some natural body lotion that will hydrate your skin properly.

Vitamine Boost

Your skin tissue is alive and needs to be fed. If you want it to remain young and healthy for many years you need to feed it with the right substances and in particular vitamins. We all know that fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamines but there is one vegetable that is a real vitamin bomb: avocado. The concentration of vitamins in avocado is surprising. Not only it is a portentous source of vitamins A, B D and E but it is also a great source of potassium, another precious mineral that can heal and preserve your skin. For this reason, avocado is one of the most efective antiaging tools you have at your fingertips. A 10 minues application of ripe avocado mask can donate a new glow to your skin.

Absolute Don’ts

Even more basic than what you do for your skin to remain young and beautiful is what you are absolutely forbid to do if you care about it. Some very frequent actions can be very dangerous for our skin cells and for our body in general. Just to quote some:

Smoking – it gives you cancer (is it not enough?). It prevents skin to be properly oxygenated, it ruins its elasticity and it contributes to wrinkles and stains.

Unprotected sun exposure – it gives you cancer (yes, this too!). Sun UV rays penetrate in your skin tissue and damage it. Your skin burns, many superficial cells die and even the deeper ones are hurt in their regenerative power.

Coffee – it gives you wrinkles (this suddenly sounds so good!). Caffeine dehydrates the skin and it sensibly contributes to the loss of elasticity and tone

Not enough sleep – it gives you craving for coffee (see above). Sleeping is the time in which our body regenerates. If you don’t sleep at least 8 hours per night your organism lacks the time to refill your skin tissue with liquids and replenish it with the necessary substances.

Beauty Products: Organic VS Chemical

By Valery Kuku
on July 15, 2015

Have you ever thought of eating a piece of plastic or drinking a bottle of gasoline? No? Why? If you would never ingest something that is not natural why you should let it in your organism trough your skin? Nowadays, a vivid public debate recognizes the importance of natural and healthy food and generally condemns junk food and industrially processed products. However, only a small amount of people questions the massive use of chemical beauty and body care products like soaps, detergents, creams and makeup.

This is not about being picky. This is about health. Your skin is the most exposed part of your body and your primary immune defense barrier. You can cause serious damage poisoning it with unhealthy substances that can show their negative effect in the short as well as in the long time.

For this reason, you should always be careful when choosing your beauty and body care products. Or do you want your skin to become the victim of a chemical assault or, worse, the vehicle of poisoning to your organism?

Chemical Beauty Products: the Lack of Ethics Generates Monsters

Chemical beauty products are the sad result of an industry that lost its ethics and follows production processes that allow the creation of cheap products (and often only cheap to produce, not to buy) in massive quantities and in relatively short time. These products, that as said can be very expensive for your to buy and can be labelled under the name of popular brands, can give some kind of results in the short term but what you see is really not what you get. In the medium-long term the damages produced on your body (often provoked by the continuous use of these products) can be catastrophic: inflammations, intoxications, allergies and even chronic diseases. Nausea, menstrual disorders, anemia, weakness can all be results of what you put on your skin. Some of the chemicals used in the most common beauty products are even proved to be carcinogenic.

Organic Beauty Products: Choose to be Healthy and Beautiful

Organic beauty products are a radical solution to this serious problem. Granted that there is no miracle that nature can do on our aging process and on the way we look, nature provides us with lots of substances that make our body stronger, more beautiful and that heal it in case of a problem.

It is possible (and it was done in the past) to create beauty products from natural, organic substances. Those brands that put ethics at the same level of profit (profit, we should not forget, is a legitimate aspiration for a company) show us clearly that good healthy organic products can be created, returning to the origins of cosmetics and using the original organic substances that savage industrialization has forgotten.

Using organic beauty and body care products you will get rid of a significant amount of toxic substances that daily enters your body. Your general health status will absolutely improve. This is not only a gift do to your body in the present, but an investment that you do for your future, since you will avoid more serious problems that might be caused by the accumulation of toxins and poison in your blood stream, brain and other organs.

Passing from Chemical to Organic Products

If you have read carefully what’s written above, there is no way that you do not want to pass from chemical to organic beauty products. It will not be difficult: just be patient, keep learning and be ready to spend much longer time to read labels.

First of all, you should investigate about a brand or a multi-brand seller who only offers organic beauty products. This passage is crucial and will mark your path toward your “organic revolution”. Our shop, for example, only deals with certified Dead Sea products that, by definition, are composed only by organic substances. Being in the business for years, we engaged our personal “battle against chemicals” and in favor of absolute quality. For this, reason we only feature the best Dead Sea products, locally produced and very far from the monstrous industrial cosmetic machine.

The second step is to start the change from the products that you use the most: soaps, shampoos, body creams and whatever you put daily on your skin. If you think that it might be expensive, think how much a visit to a specialist would cost you if you develop asthma or psoriasis. Does it seem a reasonable price now?

The third step is to finally start using your organic beauty products: use your new products regularly, drink a lot and try to sweat as much as you can with some physical activity or a sauna. Your body is now expelling all the toxins and sweating is way to accelerate the process of detox. In about a month, you will be finally clean and your life will be changed forever.

That’s How Your Life will Change

Those who pass to organic beauty products, usually notice a dramatic improvement in their skin health (especially if they have a specific problem). Even if, with the chemical products, the symptoms has disappeared for a short time, the use of organic products solves (partially or totally) the problem at the root. Not only the symptoms will disappear, but the level of healing is deeper and this will be felt clearly. The higher quality of the ingredients proves its validity in a very short time and your skin will never feel the same again.

Another change you might experience concerns smell: a big amount of synthetic fragrances are used in chemical products. All your life you have been taught that this is the way things should smell but for sure, at least once while smelling something, you have felt your nose so full of smell that you sneezed. This is not normal and it is not a good sign. Nature offers us wonderful fragrances (think of spices, or flowers) that never hurt or disturb our olfactory receptors.

Organic products contains only natural fragrances (or no fragrance at all, this is up to you!) and, when you start using them, your perception of smells will change gradually and completely. You will be able to appreciate more delicate smells and you will never have the feeling that your new cream smells really strong.

All You Need to Know About the Dead Sea

By Valery Kuku
on July 15, 2015

The Dead Sea is a wonder of nature, which exemplifies the peak of amazement that mankind is offered on this planet. Situated at the border between Israel and Jordan, the shores of this famous salty lake are the lowest point on the surface of Earth. This depression, that now is about 420 meters below the sea level, is the result of the millennial evaporation of the water that does not get replaced.

Why "Dead Sea"?

The Dead Sea is also known as Salt Sea and these two names are deeply connected one to another. The reason for the name "Dead Sea", in fact, is that the hyper salinity does not allow the survival of basically any animal or vegetal species in the Sea. Actually, in times of flood (due to winter rain for example), when the salt content becomes sensibly lower, some seaweeds and other forms of life appear in the lake. A famous event took place in 1980 when a particular red alga spread in the sea, giving the water an intense red color.

History

Such a great prodigy has not remained unnoticed since the most ancient times. The Bible talks about the whole Dead Sea Area several times: according to the story, there were situates the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you are familiar with the story, you might immediately see a quite strong (and unsettling?) connection between the Dead Sea salinity and the fact that one of the main characters of the story (the wife of Lot) was turned into a statue of salt as a punishment for a forbidden action.

Besides being the scenario of this highly emotional biblical episode, historically proven sources tell us that the ancient populations that lived on the Mediterranean basin were aware of the healing powers of the climatic area and of the minerals present in the water and in the mud of the Dead Sea.

Egyptians were great estimators of the Dead Sea minerals and their powers. Asphalt and other minerals from the Dead Sea are found in some of the most wonderful and well preserved Egyptian mummies. Even Queen Cleopatra was an eager consumer of cosmetics and pharmaceutical deriving from the Dead Sea minerals till the point of reserving to herself the exclusive access to the materials at the time of the Egyptian control on the area.

Greeks and Romans, great estimators of thermal waters and minerals, also mentioned the Dead Sea water and muds in many manuscripts and philosophical texts.

Besides being a point of reference in the history of some of the most important populations that lived the Mediterranean area, the Dead sea has been the scenario of an outstanding archeological discovery. This undoubtedly adds charm and magic to the entire area. Starting from the late '40s, the so called Dead Sea Scroll were found nearby the lake, with great amazement of the entire archaeological community. It was a long process of discovery and exegesis of an ancient code of rules as well as philosophical and spiritual writings belonging to a very unique Jewish community. Once again the Dead Sea proved itself source of incomparable wonders and surprises.

Why the Dead Sea is so salty?

The water of the Dead Sea is about 10 times saltier than ocean water and its salinity increases progressively with depth. At a certain depth there is so much salt that the water cannot absorb it anymore and the salt just falls on the bottom of the lake. The salinity of the water depends on the geographical position and on the structure of the basin. The Dead Sea is a salty lake, which has the Jordan River as the main affluent together with the Wadi Mujib and other minor ones. However, there are no outlet streams. Because of the geographical location of the area, rain is scarce and very high temperatures are constant for big part of the year. This causes a strong evaporation of water that causes the salt to deposit progressively (since salt does not evaporate, neither is taken away from outlet streams of water).

For this reason the Dead Sea is one of the saltiest lakes on the planet as well as one of the densest (this is why, for example, it is so easy to float on the Dead Sea and so difficult to swim in its water).

Dead Sea Healthy Minerals

Dead Sea minerals are well known all over the world for their benefic effects: not only they have several therapeutic uses (among others, they are proven to be effective against rheumatic problems, dermatological ones as well as breathing apparatus dysfunctions) but are also very popular for their use in cosmetic products. What's so special about them? First of all, the Dead Sea's mineral composition greatly differs from that of ocean water. In particular, the concentration of sodium chloride is way lower than "normal" sea water (approximately 70% less) while ion, notorious for its benefic effect on thyroid and other organs, is present in much higher quantity.

The mix of these and other healthy substances make of the water and the muds of the Dead Sea powerful ingredients for unguents and creams of different sort.

People from all over the world use products originated from Dead Sea minerals and benefit from their powers on a daily basis.

What are the Dead Sea Cosmetic Products

By Valery Beger
on July 15, 2015

Imagine a far and fascinating land, where the colors of the desert mix suddenly with the green of an oasis. The ground is deeply orange and red, huge stones shape silent mountains. The sun is the king and all the colors of the nature around pay an eternal tribute to it. This scenario harmonizes with green oasis, with palms and beautiful vegetation. The protagonist of this breath-taking scenario is the big salty lake that lays there dense, pacific and miraculous. Millions of people from all over the world, pilgrims seeking health and eternal beauty, come to visit this placid ancient sanctuary of wellness and to benefit from its power.

This story is real. This is the story of the Dead Sea. Since the ancient times, people used the minerals present in its mud and in its water to make medicaments and mostly cosmetic products. Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen whose beauty and ambition are remembered till today, was an eager consumer of cosmetic products made out of Dead Sea minerals. Romans and later civilizations made great use of Dead Sea muds and water for cosmetic purposes.

Nowadays, in the era of technology and progress, the Dead Sea continues, with its "millennial experience", to offer unequalled ingredients for the best cosmetic products.

The Dead Sea Cosmetics Shop offers a vast selection of the best cosmetic products that this spring of beauty and health, the Dead Sea, has to offer. The brands are chosen with care and the highest quality standard is constantly supervised in a way to bring on the market only the top options that natural cosmetics offer.

The Dead Sea Cosmetic products are divided in six categories (some of them overlap because of their multiple uses):

Face products

Face products are among the most pure as of composition. Even though, as mentioned, all the products need to fit very high quality standards, face products are given particular attention. The best and purest Dead Sea minerals are found in face creams, cleansing formulas and many other products that improve the look of your face skin as well as its state of health. Dunaliella Seaweed, one of the only forms of life able to survive in such an extreme natural habitat, is one of the main components of Dead Sea face products. During its life, the Dunaliella absorbs in huge quantities and nurtures of the prodigious substances that the Dead Sea is rich of. The Dunaliella, which is used in face care products, supplies these special substances, and has a healing and anti-aging effect on your face skin. It purifies it from free radicals and favors cellular regeneration. Its strong action is usually corroborated and amplified by the mix with omega 3, 6 and 9 whose regenerative abilities are well known.

A complete line of face care products is obtained from Dead Sea derived substances. In fact, beside the positive effect of the Dunaliella, a whole facial cleansing line of products is created from "stronger" minerals extracted from the water and the mud of the Dead Sea like magnesium, calcium, bromide, zinc, iron, sulphur and strontium.

Body and Spa

Our ancestors taught us that "mens sana in corpore sano" (a healthy mind in a healthy body) and showed us a very unique (and pleasant) way to take care of our bodies and souls: spas. Thermal water and muds have been one of the main entertainment sources and healing activities since the night of times.

The Dead Sea Cosmetic Products for body care offer an improved version of the genius discovery of thermal water and muds.

Pure mud, collected from those points in the shore with the strongest concentration of minerals, is available to reproduce the most authentic experience of a thermal session on the coast of this wondrous gift of nature. With its 26 minerals, among which Magnesium, Potassium, Chlorides, Zinc Lithium, Chromium, Iron, Iodine and Barium, the mud cleanses in depth, relieves from pain and treats most of the common skin problems.

Dead Sea Foot Creams, soaps and body lotions are created from the mud and the extract of those minerals that the sea provides so generously. Precious minerals as iron, calcium, strontium and others are the best way to hydrate, protect, reinvigorate and regenerate all the parts of your body either daily or in particular situations.

The unique natural power of the minerals is amplified by vitamins extra injections as well as herbal mixtures that, thanks to their scent, contribute to the healing action and to specific neurological stimulation. The obtained mixture, result of a comprehensive research in the field of cosmetic, dermatology and neuroscience, reaches the optimum in effectiveness acting both on the body and on the soul.

Man Care

After the two main categories it is worth to mention a very specific line that includes products both for face and body care: man care products. Dead Sea Man Care products conjugate both the undeniable need of protection and hydration that every man has and the general preference of the "stronger sex" for natural products and rough esthetics.

Hair products

The wondrous effects of Dead Sea Minerals and mud are visible on the hair too. Besides a strong cleansing power that in this case can be of great help for a deep scalp cleaning, we should not forget that the Dead Sea water is exceptionally rich in Manganese, whose utility resides in incrementing capillary blood circulation. As a result, the scalp is deeply re-oxygenated and nourished. Using hair products that are derived from Dead Sea Minerals means boosting healthy hair growth and regrowth, and protecting the scalp from greasiness and potentially dangerous and unpleasant conditions.

Health products

An inseparable unity of beauty and wellness is at the basis of the whole lines. Indeed, a particular category of Dead Sea products is that related to health care. The miraculous effects of the minerals, visible in terms of external appearance, are the consequence of a much deeper effect: a general improvement of health condition that includes the healing of certain illnesses. Psoriasis and other skin problems (especially of inflammatory origin) are effectively fought against by the natural elements that compose soaps and other specific Dead Sea products. The skin tissues are healed and regenerated by a careful mix of minerals (among which benzoin, for example) and other natural elements, mostly coming from herbs and plants.

Sun care

The last special line of Dead Sea Cosmetic Product is represented by sun care products. The natural elements, in this case, are wisely mixed to guarantee an effective sunscreen effect, protecting the skin from damages and aging due to the UV rays. Moreover, they ensure hydration during and after the exposition to the sun. In the same line, interesting unguents are offered to enhance the beauty of a tanned bronzed body, another wonderful tribute to the magnificent sun that is king on the shores of the Dead Sea.

The Many Uses of Dead Sea Salt

By Valery Beger
on July 15, 2015

Dead Sea salt is one of the most popular Dead Sea products in the world. In many supermarkets, cosmetic stands or natural products stores tons of products are reported to contain this element (please be careful when buying one of them. Buy only in highly professional and trusted shops, like ours, because many non-authentic and totally ineffective products are sold, even for high prices). You surely have seen them and maybe you’ve even bought some Dead Sea Salt. But do you really know how to use it to get the most advantage out of it?

This kind of salt comes from the Dead Sea, whose waters are well known since ancient times because of their beneficial properties. There is a general consensus in the scientific community about its beneficial role in a number of cases.

Dead Sea Salt and Cellulitis

Dead Salt is one of the most effective agents against cellulitis, a very popular dysfunction that regards especially women between the age of 20 to the age of 45. Besides the esthetical repercussions of this problem, cellulitis cause also a sense of physical unease, swelling and, in some cases, pain.

Dead Sea Salt, with its exceptional concentration of magnesium, potassium, calcium, iodine, and sulfur has a purifying and detoxifying action on the metabolism. A Dead Sea Salt treatment (and its regular use) can significantly contribute in expelling toxins and excess fluid, reducing, as a consequence, cellulitis. The same effect can be obtained on tired ankles and legs, since its detox ability is strong and immediate.

Scrub it away!

Besides fighting against cellulite, Dead Sea Salt increases elasticity to your skin, as much as it is constantly used. Scrubs derived from the Dead Sea Salt are among the most effective in thoroughly removing dead layers of skin and helping the regeneration as well as microcirculation. These are in fact the main causes of cellulitis and other skin imperfections. After a thorough scrub with Dead Sea Salt, the skin is smoother, has better color and a much healthier and younger look!

Dead Sea Salt and muscle / articular pain

Another fundamental use of the Dead Sea is to release muscles and articulations from pain. No matter if you have chronic diseases or you suffer for temporary conditions traumas: the special minerals warmth (and buoyancy, if you have the opportunity to take the Salt treatment in the Dead Sea itself) reduce the release of prostaglandins – a substance that is present in some of our bodies' fluids and tissues and that can favor the insurgence of painful inflammatory states.

4 Tips for Taking Care of Your Skin

By Valery Beger
on July 15, 2015

Our skin is like a dress that we wear all life long and often the mirror of our state of health. The first impression that people have of us largely depends on how our skin looks and mostly it shows our body and soul wellness with its color tone, smoothness and beauty.

For these reasons, a beautiful skin is a common desire. We would all like our skin to remain beautiful, soft and pure like that of a kid. Sometimes, however, our lifestyle and our body care daily gestures seem to contradict our desire. Are you fully aware of the fact that some of your daily behaviors accelerate your skin’s aging process and favor problems and sicknesses? Do you know that following few easy rules the state of your skin can visibly improve?

Here are some of them:

  1. Protect yourself from the sun

Will this thing be ever repeated too much? No! We know: tanning is great and a nice bronze color is beautiful, sexy and adds grace to your entire look. Said that, the sun nowadays is more dangerous than ever in the past and a lifetime (or even repeated episodes) of intense and direct sun exposure causes wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems (among which skin cancer). There is no joke or exaggeration in this: you expose yourself to the sun in a non-cautious way, you will have some of these problems. It is simple (and terrible) as that. For this reason, you should always act wisely when exposing yourself to sun rays:

  •       Use sunscreen. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen with a protection factor of at least 15 (this depends on the tone of your skin and on the place where you live) multiple times during the day, even in cloudy days and even if you are not planning a tanning session. Remember that you absorb UVA and UVB rays even if you are not intentionally exposed to the sun. The sun is there, always, for good and for bad. The Dead Sea Cosmetic Products offer a complete line of Sunscreen and sun protection products that will fit your protective needs perfectly while giving you extra hydration and elasticity, thanks to the healthy mixture of minerals.
  •       Be smart about timing and clothing. Sun is stronger during certain hours of the day. Why then risking it all? Avoid any intentional exposure to the sun between 11 am and 4pm and try not to be exposed at all, if possible. Apply a more intense sunscreen in case you have to go outside and repeat the application every 2 hours or less. Always wear protective clothes (we know, it's hot... but hot is better than burnt!), preferably made of natural fabric to favor transpiration. Hat is a must: not only it protects you from heat strokes but it avoids scalp burns (a painful, unaesthetic and very painful problem).
  •       Special conditions. Protection from harmful sun rays is a daily habit and requires a daily care. However, there are some special conditions in which your body is more vulnerable that require an extra effort.

If you are under some specific medication you should pay attention to possible collateral effects. While some kind of medicines are well known to be not compatible with sun exposure (antibiotics, antihistamines, acne medications, chemotherapy drugs etc.) other are not considered a problem by most, while they should be. Always ask your doctor about the compatibility of any medication you take with sun exposure.

Also your location or the activity you are doing might expose you to extra risk. Apply stronger sunscreen if you are at the sea, at the pool or close to a water stream. Sun reflects on water and its power becomes way more aggressive. If you are swimming or sweating a lot, consider a stronger sunscreen and apply it more often than you normally do: water or any other liquid might wash the cream away and you might find yourself without protection again!

  1. Stop Smoking!

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the superficial layers of skin, which decreases blood flow. As a consequence, the skin loses oxygen and nutrients that are important to its health.

Smoking also damages collagen and elastin, diminishing your skin’s strength and elasticity. If you think of quitting, Dead Sea products might be of great help: the Salt is great to relax you (nicotine withdrawal symptoms can make you nervous) and it absorbs toxins and poisonous substances that are left in your organism. Moreover, some facial and body care products can help you starting fresh also with your look: after a gentle scrub that will remove the dead skin, an effective regenerative treatment might help your skin to reacquire elasticity and tone

  1. Be kind to your skin

As we like to say, skin is our most precious dress and the one we will be wearing all our lives. Why not treating it with the same care and kindness that we reserve to our best and most expensive clothes?

Clean your skin gently. Keeping your skin clean and neat is undoubtedly a good habit. However if you would never wash silk clothes with an aggressive soap or in boiling water because you are afraid that it would lose its softness and its unique characteristics, why shouldn’t you have the same concerns for your skin? Avoid taking boiling showers or to remain in very hot water for a long time. A warm nice shower or bath is healthier for your skin tissue and it has the same cleansing power. Moreover, choose a mild soap and not an aggressive one. Dead Sea Products for example are created to clean the impurities while respecting the natural pH while providing the skin with the substances that it needs.

Mind your skin’s uniqueness. When taking care of a precious fabric, we are very careful about the type of detergent that we need. Specific products and specific cleaning process are meticulously chosen for different fabrics, different colors etc. The same attention should be put in choosing the products for your skin. Read carefully about the components of each product before considering buying one. You are responsible for your own body and you must be informed about the substances that enter your organism through your skin. Dead Sea Cosmetic Products are accompanied by an extensive explanation about the properties of the components and by the indications of use. Moreover, our customer service is professionally qualified to answer all your questions and advise you on the right products for your skin.

Avoid traumas. As you certainly do with your most precious things, you should avoid any traumatic experience for your skin that might cause it to be lacerated, scratched or worn out in any way. One of the most traumatic experiences for your skin is shaving. Be it with a razor, wax or an electronic machine, while you shave your skin tissue is pulled, pinched and scratched. For this reason, is crucial that you adequately pamper your skin preparing it before shaving and relieving it from inflammation and micro damages once you finish. Among the wide selection of products that we offer, an entire line is dedicated to men’s care (and it includes many pre and after shave products). To women, instead, we offer specific softening and regenerating products that are the ideal for this kind of activity.

  1. Nurture yourself and your skin

If you have ever substantially altered your nutrition for a short-medium period (even for one day) you might know that not eating and drinking enough (or at all) can create in few hours a feeling of deep discomfort, almost desperation in some cases and an immediate decrease in the ability to focus, in relational capacity and, of course strength.  Not eating and drinking at all or consuming unhealthy food and beverages deeply weaken our bodies and, even if the effect is temporary (most of the time the condition is reversible), the recovery can be tricky sometimes (especially if the unhealthy phase is long) and it leaves us with a bad feeling and, certain, a bad memory.

The same happens to the skin. Besides being one of the first parts of our body showing signs of suffering from a wrong or an insufficient nutrition, the skin demands itself to be nurtured in an appropriate way. In order to give your skin the substances that it needs, you need to follow diligently a healthy diet, rich in fruits and vegetables as well as in water and natural beverages (with no sugar or any other sweetener). Moreover you should always keep your skin hydrated with lotions and creams in a way that it receives healthy substances both from inside the organism as well as from outside.

6 ways for beautiful nails

By Valery Beger

Besides being the mirror of our wellbeing, nails are one of our “natural accessories”. Like hair, they are a living part of our body, a thin layer of keratin that keeps growing for all our life. Like hair, they were originally supposed to protect our body from friction and external agents. Nowadays, thanks to our more refined way or life, they became a more ornamental part, but not for this less important.

Bad looking fingernails are something you cannot miss when looking at somebody. Nails carelessness immediately gives you the feeling that something is wrong with the person. Bad looking fingernails can also be the symptom of a health disease. This is why we all desire our nails to be neat and beautiful. But what the most important steps are with which we can make sure that our nails are beautiful and healthy? Here some tips for your nails to be always strong and wonderful.

  1. Clean is beautiful

This is a very basic tip, but an important one. You cannot have beautiful nails if you do not keep them clean. Wash your hands regularly with a delicate soap (Dead Sea Cosmetic soaps ensure a deep cleansing, together with a constant hydration of your skin and nails) and always dry them after washing them. Keep your nails relatively short so that they will be less inclined to suffer traumas (like bumping into something or getting stuck).

  1. Food for your nails

As we said, your nails are alive and for this reason they must feed. Since they feed through you, you should always have a balanced diet if you want them to look good and healthy. Observe your fingernails very carefully and if you notice some kind of problem, you might want to investigate what your diet lacks of. For example, are your nails splitting? You are probably lacking calcium.

  1. Be gentle with your nails

A tiny layer of keratin can pass through a lot but why you want to push you nails’ limits so much? Avoid aggressive nail polishes or, worse, acetone remover. Quality products might cost you a bit more but think of the money you will have to spend repairing your nails if they get damaged! Besides that, your nails have pores and aggressive chemicals might partially be absorbed by your body through them. Avoid also to bite them (see the tip above and remember: you need to feed them, not the contrary!) and to use them as tools (it is true that it is, partially, their original function but we do not live like monkeys anymore and you do not want to have the same nails of a monkey!).

  1. When the cold damages your cuticles

During the cold winter it is so difficult to keep good-looking fingernails! Aloe Vera extract is one of the best natural remedies to this problem. Its healing powers are known since ancient times (Egyptians called it “the plant of immortality”) and its rich mix of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, and other nutritive, is unbeatable for hydrating and regenerating skin tissues. Aloe Vera is one of the natural elements that are often combined with the Dead Sea Minerals in our products. This plant, in fact grows florid in Israel, thanks to its dry and hot weather (that characterizes also the climatic area of the Dead Sea). This mix between sea minerals and plant minerals creates incredibly effective healing creams.

  1. Prepare a bath for brittle nails

One of the main causes of brittle nails is lack of hydration. An incredible tool to prevent and to solve this problem is to immerse your nails in a solution of salt and water. You can prepare the perfect manicure solution with one liter of water and four tablespoon of salt. After it is ready, bath your nails for about 15 minutes. After the treatment, do not forget to dry your hands.

The quality of the salt is crucial and if you want to reach the optimal result you should pick the best salt. Dead Sea Salt ensures you a much higher concentration of healthy substances and allows you to solve the problem faster and more effectively.

  1. Prepare a bath for yellow nails

Aren’t yellow nails annoying? It is probably the result of you using an aggressive nail polish. A valid solution to the problem can be a chamomile and lemon treatment. You can prepare it at home brewing for 20 minutes 4 tablespoons of dry chamomile in 2 cups of water. Meanwhile you wait for the mixture to be ready you should rub your fingernails with lemon, paying attention not to irritate possible micro wounds. When the mixture is ready, you should immerse your nails for 20 minutes. Repeat the treatment up to 3 times a week for a couple of weeks. If it does not help, consult a dermatologist because you might actually have a fungus.
